miscellaneous | banana and honey smoothie

Makes 1 tall glass (gin and tonic size only somehow more healthy!)

This is a gorgeously smooth, creamy and sweet drink which is great for adults and children alike! And it's fantastic for using up really ripe bananas that no one fancies eating. So it helps reduce waste too. It's also great solution if you're beginning to feel hungry but it won't be too long before you have supper. I stress, it is not, however, a substitute for a meal.

Wheat free, dairy free, nut free, meat free version...

  1. Put all the ingredients in blender - and whizz away! Best served immediately.
  2. I would suggest putting the honey in last and blending almost instantly - the honey has a habit of sinking to the bottom very quickly, getting trapped under the blade mechanism and not being mixed in thoroughly if you leave it even more than a few seconds. The other thing you can do is aim to drizzle it on the floating bits of banana more than in the milk!

Maybe serve with...

This is fine, just as it is!

For those able to eat dairy...

To be perfectly honest, if you gave this to someone who ordinarily drank dairy milk and didn't tell them it wasn't dairy milk (so long as they aren't allergic to rice milk, of course), I don't know that they would taste a significant difference. But if you wished to make this with dairy milk, you certainly could.

If you have rice milk left, see the hot chocolate, sweet vanilla sauce or rice pudding.
